Monday October 20, 2003
from The Telegraph:
“Spain to exhume poet killed by fascists”
It’s a crucial part of the legend & mystery of Federico García Lorca: his death at the hands of nationalists at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War. Some of the stories say he was forced to dig his own grave, some say it is not known where his body lies. All agree that “His crime was to be a poet, a republican and a homosexual.” Now the mass grave into which it is believed his body was dumped is to be opened, despite the objections of his family.
