Sekou Sundiata is Blessing the Boats
Friday November 7, 2003
In a new interview online at Afrikana, Sekou Sundiata, poet of “Rhythm & News,” talks about how performance poetry fits into the long tradition of our oral art, “the marriage of composition and improvisation” in his work with a band, the “Afro-Latin sensibility” in his own personal history, and his new show, Blessing the Boats, “a contemplation of my years of dealing with kidney disease, dialysis, transplantation...” Great stuff!
