Poetic license?

from The San Francisco Chronicle:
“High Court considers teen’s poetic license”
The California Supreme Court is currently considering arguments filed by 2003 Nobel prizewinner J.M. Coetzee & other novelists & poets in the case of a 15-year-old San Jose boy who was prosecuted and convicted of making criminal threats for writing a violent poem. There’s a somewhat similar case in Atlanta, in which a teenager was expelled for writing a threatening story in her private journal, despite the state Poet Laureate’s defense at her hearing.
