Poetry history lives in San Francisco
Monday February 23, 2004
The writers at the San Francisco Chronicle have recently been paying a lot of attention to poets & the Bay Area’s uniquely rich history in poetry, beyond the usual book reviews. Just in the last week:
- “Gary Snyder goes back to the future,” by Heidi Benson
- “King of the big screen a champion of poetry” (Viggo Mortensen), by Ruthe Stein
- “Within its walls are the sounds of Auden, Ginsberg and Walker. Their words still echo at the Poetry Center, 50 years after its birth,” by Heidi Benson
- “Spurned birds and hovering words, Pigeons and poets thrive in city’s fertile soil,” by Stephen Vincent
