Grolier Poetry Book Shop closing... or not...?

Friday April 9, 2004
from The Harvard Crimson:
Grolier Book Shop To Close
The Grolier Poetry Book Shop has been on Harvard Square in Cambridge since 1927, the last 30 years under the proprietorship of Louisa Solano, and bills itself as “the nation’s oldest continuously operating all-poetry bookstore.” Last summer we posted notice of a benefit concert for the shop, which seems to have been teetering on the brink of bankruptcy for quite a while. Now comes this word that the Grolier is about to close or be sold....

But wait! Here’s a simultaneous announcement of the Grolier reading this Tuesday -- best be there if you want to support the Book Shop & find out what’s really going on there:

“On April 13, Tuesday, 8 pm, at Adams House, the Grolier Poetry Reading Series presents three Yale Younger Poets, Olga Broumas (Beginning with O), Michael Casey (Obscenities), and Sean Singer (Discography). Address: Adams House, Entry C, 26 Plympton Street, Harvard Square. Admission: $3. Contact: Louisa Solano, 617.547.4648. And, yes, the Grolier is still open.”
