Letter to a Young Poet
Wednesday May 12, 2004
Last month a 10th grader’s query landed in the poetry.guide mailbox, asking for Bob Holman’s own take on the writing of his poems for a project on slam poetry. While poets are certainly not always their own best critics, the Margy-Snyder-half of the poetry.guide team convinced the Bob-Holman-half that his responding notes on these three poems are worth sharing with you, our readers. They are: “1990,” “A Jew in New York” & “AIDS.”
