Poems from our Forum to the July IBPC
Wednesday June 30, 2004
We’ve chosen poems by three Poetry Forum mainstays to represent our community in the July InterBoard Poetry Competition. Each in its own way represents a journey for both poet & reader, a surprising process of discovery that answers IBPC judge C.J. Sage’s challenge to the poets of the Internet.
T. Obatala’s “Crocus” is a compact, eloquent trip that turns at the end and, surprise, looks back. Vickie Bowman/Midustouch’s “It Costs Too Much” begins in the broad span of history’s war dead and zooms in to a focused & intensely poignant image. And Guy Kettelhack’s “Harp Strings” deftly plucks its reader’s heart strings by investing ordinary objects with rich meaning. Kudos & luck in the judging to all three poets. Thanks to everyone who offered nominations or posted permissions. We’ll be back to report when the judge announces the winners.
