Poetry + music, an inspired collaboration
Tuesday October 19, 2004
J.P. Dancing Bear, whose work as editor of Disquieting Muses & American Poetry Journal has been noted in these pages, is also the host of a poetry radio show combining readings, recordings & conversations with poets: “Out of Our Minds” every Wednesday evening on KKUP “People’s Radio” in Cupertino, California. This week his guest is not a poet, but a musician, pianist & composer Adrienne Torf, who collaborated with June Jordan over the last 20 years of her life on work that has been called a “seamless and stunning assemblage of poetry and musical compositions.”
If you’re not within range of KKUP (and it’s a relatively low-power broadcast), you can listen to archived “Out of Our Minds” shows online at Dancing Bear’s Web site, and selections from Torf & Jordan’s Collaboration CD are available online at Adrienne Torf’s site. Both audio collections are well worth your listening time.
