The Second Annual Walt Whitman Birthday Bash
“Come celebrate this great American author's 186th birthday and the 150th anniversary of the first edition of his poetic masterpiece, Leaves of Grass. The Walt Whitman Project presents a joyous evening of poetry, prose, and music. Partipants include poet Daniela Gioseffi reading poetry by Whitman and her own original work; Karen Karbiener, editor of the recently published Barnes & Noble First and ‘Death-Bed’ Editions, Walt Whitman; Darrel Blaine Ford as Walt Whitman; Whitman readers Lon Black, Judith Jarosz, Walter Raubicheck, and Hakim Williams; trumpeter Pam Fleming; and Ruth Juliet Wikler, artistic director of Cirque Boom Circus Theater. Music by Jennifer Griffith and Paula M. Kimper will be performed. Featured on this program will be Lon Black reading excerpts from the 1855 Whitman poem ‘A Song for Occupations.’ Free refreshments including birthday cake will be served.”

Admission: $10 (cash only at the door, the day of the performance, TDF not accepted)
