Winners chosen in the July InterBoard Poetry Competition
Tuesday July 26, 2005
In his last month as IBPC judge, Aaron Wellborn has selected three poems that share elements of the sinister, the menacing, the troubling, and make art of them: “The Mandolin,” by Laurie Byro, a poem “like a disturbing dream [that] rewards revisiting over and over”; “A Meaningless Poem,” by sabyasachi nag, whose title “shouldn’t be taken too literally”; and “Murderers,” by Judy Goodwin, a “refreshingly simple and plainspoken” yet “richly suggestive and unusual elegy.”
