Chorus of Poets Gather for “Howl” Celebration: the 50th anniversary

Los Angeles writer Teresa Conboy was at Skylight Books the night last month when poets & friends gathered to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Allen Ginsberg’s “Howl” by reading the landmark poem in chorus, and it was a magical evocation of the cadence of a poem that changed the world. City Lights Books, which has kept Howl and Other Poems in print all the years since in the face of uproar & attempted censorship, has invited poets all over the world to honor & remember “Howl” by gathering for commemorative readings, and is posting information about the readings on its Web site.
