In the Arms of Words

We’ve said before that Amy Ouzoonian is a force (of nature). She’s been busy in the last year gathering poems & making books in support of the survivors of Mother Nature’s destructive forces:

• In the Arms of Words: Poems for Tsunami Relief (Foothills Publishing, 2005 -- hand-sewn special limited print edition available from A Gathering of the Tribes, Tompkins Square Station, PO Box 20693, New York, NY 10009)
• In the Arms of Words: Poems for Disaster Relief (Sherman Asher, 2005 -- the same anthology mass-published, with proceeds going to survivors of both the Asian tsunami & Hurricane Katrina)

Now she’s travelling with the books, giving readings where they are available for sale and collecting donations for the victims of the tsunami & the hurricane. Next is the big In the Arms of Words book party and reading at the Poetry Project at St. Marks Church, 131 E. 10th Street in New York City, Friday, February 3rd at 10:30 pm. Hosted by Regie Cabico, the event will feature Amy Ouzoonian, George Wallace, Alan Semerdjian, Nancy Mercado, Thaddeus Rutkowski, Eve Packer and more. For more info, phone 212.674.0910.
