If you spent National Poetry Month writing new poems, or putting together a new manuscript of poems, now’s the time to send them off for these publishing competitions:

• Five Fingers Review Poetry Award (theme “Foreign Lands and Alternate Universes,” postmark deadline June 1)
• Companion Poems Contest from Poetry Daily/Virginia Arts of the Book Center (postmark deadline June 1)
• Boston Review Poetry Contest (postmark deadline June 1)
• Best New Poets Open Competition from the University of Virginia (online entry deadline June 15)
• Crab Orchard Series in Poetry First Book Award (postmark deadline July 1)
