Collecting the best of online writing for a printed book
Snow*Vigate (pronounced to rhyme with “navigate”) is a brand-new online journal (Issue #1 went live in spring 2006) that publishes poetry, flash fiction and drama, non-fiction, short essays on critical theory, prosody, and poetics. It’s edited by Indiana State University professor Doug Martin, who says “We want to see genres coming together and huddling in a blizzard to keep warm. We want to see verbs slapping the hell out of lazy nouns. We want to see God’s syntax in snow. The unconscious is sexy. So are the tails of barnbirds, I am told. The ‘snaw-rad’ leads here. The ‘snaw-rad’ loves you.” And their first print venture will be an anthology gathering the best of online writing over the past 10 years.
from Snow*Vigate Press (with thanks to Anny Ballardini of fieralingue Poets’ Corner & the NewPoetry list for posting the announcement):
“As a result of a generous grant from Indiana State University, Snow*Vigate Press will be publishing a printed anthology of the best online writing over the past ten years, hopefully to be released in August 2007. We would like to include about three pieces from each writer appearing in the book. If you would like to nominate your own online work or work from others, please follow these guidelines:
“Paste the URLs of 3-7 pieces from each writer in the body of an email. You may nominate up to three writers. In the subject line of your email, please type ‘Submission to Snow*Vigate Anthology.’ Send all submissions to dougmartin832@yahoo.com. Work from any online site is acceptable, as long as it has not been published in printed form. Editors of online journals are encouraged to submit work from their sites. The submission period will be from August 1 to September 1, 2006. If you have any questions, please contact Doug Martin.”
