Poems representing our Forum in the August IBPC
Once again we’ve selected the work of three poets who have served before as our envoys to this month’s InterBoard Poetry Competition:
- Sam Packard (Ilalex)’s untitled winner of the Forum’s most recent challenge, a poem inspired by lines from Irving Layton’s “The Birth of Tragedy” -- “A quiet madman, never far from tears....”
- “Voices” by Guy Kettelhack (GuyBlakeKett), a poem that walks the edge of the abyss, between madness & bliss.
- “Travel Plans” by Mitchell Geller (EDowson), a finely worked Parisian dream sonnet.
We’ve just received information on the new team of judges for the IBPC, Tree Riesener & Peter Krok of The Schuylkill Valley Journal in Pennsylvania, and while we’re awaiting their choices from both the July & August entries, we’ve put together a background page on the two of them so that you can read some of their work published online & get a feel for their tastes.
