A New Web Anthology of Poetry-Art
Monday February 5, 2007
Last September we posted Clemente Padin’s invitation to visual poets to contribute “notes, commentary, bibliography, photos, poems” for the colloquium on the 50th anniversary of concrete poetry at the University of Stuttgart, Germany, in November 2006: 50 Years of Concrete Poetry: An invitation to VisPoets. Now the results of that invitation are posted at BOEK 861: a library of new visual poetry in jpeg form from all over the world, plus Padin’s survey of the history of the concrete poetry movement (in Spanish) and a collection of essays, reminiscences and more concrete poems in pdf form. The poems are wildly varying in quality and interest; the best of them are like koans made solid, condensing a thought-joke into a single image made of words.
