Federico García Lorca, Spanish poet of passion and duende

García Lorca was Spain’s most important poet and dramatist of the 20th century, whose work is still beloved for its passion, pride, love and death -- in his word, duende. He was murdered by Nationalist soldiers at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War in 1936.
