Another honorable mention in the IBPC for Forum poet Mitchell Geller
Kudos to Mitchell Geller (EDowson), whose sonnet, “Barren,” was one of the entries from our Poetry Forum to last month’s InterBoard Poetry Competition, and was chosen for honorable mention by IBPC judge Deborah Bogen. The winning poems she selected for August were:
- In first place, “After Howl III -- Rockin’ the Ages” by Gary Blankenship, a poem that fulfills its invocation of the ghost of Allen Ginsberg because “the poet is both author and instigator -- very Ginsbergesque.”
- In second place, “I See God Standing in Stout Grove” by Laura Warnock, a poem that explains “what Heaven (with a capital H) is [using] a decidedly pagan imagery.”
- In third place, “fulton street hustlers” by Allen Itz, “a fast train meant to knock you off your reading feet... with its marvelous eye for the right detail and its fluid command of the line.”
