More Poems for the Christmas Season

By December 9, 2012

Follow me on:

We’ve enriched our collection of Christmas poems with several more classics celebrating this special wintry time of the year:

  • Lines spoken after the ghost’s exit in the very first scene of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet (1603)

  • A Christmas Carol,” George Wither’s merry 17th century recounting of all the ways life is different during the Christmas season (1622)

  • The Twelve Days of Christmas,” the still-sung classic that some scholars trace back to medieval French fable-songs, but that didn’t appear in print until it was included in an 18th century English book of children’s rhymes (1780)

  • Christmas at Sea,” Robert Louis Stevenson’s mournful ballad about setting sail away from home on Christmas Day (1888)
Enjoy all the poems we’ve gathered in this holiday season anthology!
