OF THE NEXT DOOR CONFECTIONERS
Sachi Nag
(Writers Block)
Then we moved to Picnic Garden Road
where sweetness in the confectioners
blood rose so sharp his sons
wouldnt have him home; hospitals neither.
Its not uncommon for ants to nibble
on the diabetic; just look
under the bandaged eyes. At first
when he spoke of pain we raised
our hands to clasp our mouths.
Then there was a gaping hole
swarming ants; then he was gone.
Now the kids are safe again.
And there is one more room
with a foots impression on the wall.
Judge David Biespiels comments: The poems orderliness is fine, a good example of In Medias Res, for sure.
