D. Ouellet Suzanne Delaney (PIXORDIA) Kathryn Wells-VogelTHE ROCKING MAN
I dont recall his name,
just the creak of stair,
snick of door,
footfall echo spreading
like the water stain
across my ceiling,
groan of old wood
greeting his familiar weight.
Sleep would claim me
rag doll safe,
as his chair scraped out its lullaby
rocking, rocking.
We saw him seldom--never still;
that porcupine hair, owl eyed,
silent stare,
right hand cupping left wrist,
reed of a man
swayed by savage tides
felt by none
but the Rocking Man.
TO TRANSMOGRIFY
Beyond the perceived image
a human eye beholds
form in clouds,
geometry in wheat fields
Can focus on a spider
blending into tree bark
Sees the living art of
self transmogrified
stick and leaf creatures
Man weaves reality with fantasy
A horse in ceremony
adorned with ornate antlers
becomes a deers fleet spirit
Something ordinary tweaked
to bring surprise or curiosity
or fear or awe -- as with a
mighty Vikings horned helmet,
a dog-headed man or a centaur
Enough, to draw unexpected power
from Nature
Shadow and light are more
than a divine balance
When dark forces
blossom beyond experience
the unspoken occurs --
the unfolding of evil
from seeming innocence
A DOMESTIC DISPUTE
One Day
Father Time
Slapped Mother Nature
So hard
Her beautiful taught skin
Began a downhill slide
To hang loosely upon
Her perfect bone structure.
The Heavens could no longer
Support her wounded, lifeless form.
So, bit by bit,
Her body began to slump
In a pitiful display of
Double chins,
Sloppy belly,
Drooping breasts
And sagging derrière.
But being the ethereal presence she is,
Mother Natures predicament
Was invisible to her children.
Mother Nature,
In her infinite wisdom,
Believed her children
Should share in her plight
And discovered a way
For them to know,
as she knows,
Of Father Times violent temper.
