From Tyler to XYZ

Dateline: 2/24/98

Mike Tyler and Emily XYZ are part of the floating explosion that coalesced at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe way back in the early to middle years of this decade -- their poems are in Aloud! Voices from the Nuyorican Poets Cafe.

Tyler, known to many as The Most Dangerous Bean in PoBiz, once broke his arm during a reading -- he promptly wrote the poem, "Logic Broke My Arm."

Emily XYZ has a single out from Kill Rock Stars and an album out soon from Mouth Almighty Records, Electric Magistrate.

They both tour with the poetry collective Real Live Poetry.

--Bob Holman

DisClaimer: Bob Holman ran the Slams at the Nuyorican Poets Cage 1989-1996, co-edited Aloud* with Miguel Algarin, and is the artistic director of Real Live Poetry. He's a fulltime poet, or so he says.
