Rooster Chronicle
by Diana Manister

Fiery horizon
behind a line of trees:

sunrise in the
heart of winter.

Snowcapped hills are
sun-vermillioned,

Icicles ignite.
A rooster is illuminated

in prismatic grass.
His shed’s incandescent.

Wind lifts its powdered roof
as frozen smoke.

Edges are dazzled, ablaze.
The landscape unshapes.

No one questions this brightness.
Thoughts are ruby rays

on glass branches,
infinitesimal emerald and

violet lights
sphering in updrafts.

Nothing’s comprehensible
at last.
