I’d Rather Be Crazy Than Stupid
(So How Come I’m Crazy For You?), by Bob Holman

If you’re crazy, you’re crazy you’ve just gone round the bend
When you’re stupid you just keep on bendin’ in the wind
Loving you is as dumb now as when this thing just begin
I may be crazy for you now but I’m just stupid in the end

[spoken] Second Verse

It was a dream. Why do we dream? What’s the purpose of a dream?
I got a job. I know my job. I’m good at it, it seems.
I live alone. Well, there’s the dog. But he don’t really count.
Then there’s you, you got the trailer, and your husband, he’s a friend.

[spoken] It gets worse...

I wish the men in the white coats’d come take me off
A dark padded cell’s better’n this living hell
O please won’t you leave me! Love me! or grieve for me!
Call up the hospital! Do it now!

[spoken] 911

My face in the mirror looks like a weed.
Not the tall well kept sapling I was once’t.
Time goes by. That’s my cry. Not a coyote in the county.
They’re after me! I got no brain! I’M GOING CRAZY!

[spoken] God I wish

If you’re crazy, you’re crazy you’ve just gone round the bend
When you’re stupid you just keep on bendin’ in the wind
Loving you is as dumb now as when this thing just begin
I may be crazy for you now, but I’m just stupid in the end
